Pink Ink || Summary || To do

Summary

So far i'm happy with the amount of research I have blogged to back up my ideas for the Pink Ink brief. I feel the broad range of traditional and modern techniques I have explored and aim to continue practicing will enable me to develop a collection of photographs, prints and digital pattern designs suitable to be displayed in a publication as well as applied to a range of products. The purpose in writing this brief was to be as creative and experimental as possible, so far I feel I have achieved that level of practice however I wish to experiment more, to show a better quality of work in my practice.

To do

- Continue experimenting phases to develop a wider range of photographs and prints
- Focus more on macro photography to get detailed images to work from for editing
- Organise imagery into categories of process, colour palette and editing techniques applied
- Produce a logo for PINK INK
- Plan a publication for all art work to be displayed in
- Consider items for artwork application (t-shirts, iPhone cases, cushion covers) - Society 6 product range
- Consider displaying products range in a look book or online (website)
- Book photography studio to photography art work, prints and final products

COPE & ARNOLD

Aether project

Both with varying backgrounds in photography and design Nicholas and Dustin met through a commercial project in 2007 and began their first collaboration in October of 2009. Each working beyond their respective discipline they combine the mediums of painting, chemistry, sculpture, fashion and installation as a part of their image-making process.

CLIFF BRIGGIE

KLARI REIS

The daily dish

San Francisco-based artist Klari Reis is creating a new Petri dish painting every day in 2013 for her Daily Dish project. Klari uses the creative process of both painting and science in this mesmerising project. The unnatural but beautiful textures, shapes and random pattern Reis is creating in this optical exploration.

C MAXWELL MORRIS

Visual art

The technique C Maxwell Morris is using on these paintings, many of them are created by placing glass over the original acrylic on canvas. From this multiple artworks are created that each have an interesting quality of their own that look like modern psychedelic marbling.

SUZANNA FIELDS

Paintings

Suzanna Fields explores the spontaneity of paint through a combination of innovative experimental techniques, “I extrude, pour, drip, spill, spray, cut up, brush on and draw with paint and ink in my paintings”, to create these huge scale pieces. Interactions between paints ad inks create pieces full of organic depth, texture and vibrant patterns.

Pink Ink || Paper marbling experiments

Below is the collection of paper marbling prints I have created using a pink themed colour pallet I have developed a range of paper prints displaying iridescent and abstract pattern formations. Over all I'm really happy with the final outcome, these prints will be used for future editing swell as carefully selected to be presented in the Pink Ink publication of print, pattern and processes experiments.

Pink Ink || Primary research

PAPER AND CARD SAMPLES

Whilst visiting a few arts and crafts shops, I found these colourful paper samples.

Experimenting with hue and pattern is my aim for this brief.

Pink Ink || Colour concept boards

Over the past few weeks I have been collecting inspirational imagery and finding processing techniques  to experiment with to generate my own collection of photographs and prints to work from to digitally enhance for my Pink Ink brief.

THEMES OF INSPIRATION:

- An investigation into the colour pink
- The aspect of colour
- How to create colour
- Iridescent pattern formation
- Photographic evidence of textures, surfaces and materials

Pink Ink || William Miller photography

RUINED POLAROIDS

These pictures were taken on a ruined Polaroid camera SX-70.

The collection of images depict a blur of colours forming abstract patterns and obscure silhouettes of what was originally the focus and intention for the photo to be taken.

These bizarre faulty photographs have encouraged me to practice processing more to develop manipulated imagery.
