Progress crit || Feedback

The briefs which I asked to receive feedback on were 'Pink Ink' and 'Butterfly project'.

Here are the questions I left by my work to gain feedback on:

Butterfly Project

Questions

- Is the project concept original enough?
- Has my approach to research benefited my initial designs?
- How many designs shall I produce for the gift wrap sample book?

Feedback

1.
- Concept is great and I really like the patterns, good use of colours, overall great designs
- 15 samples would be good
- Will the designs only be used for gift wrap? Or will you try applying them to other products such as a textile range (cushions, rugs, curtains etc)

2.
- Great pattern design, nice use of colour schemes, overall beautiful complex patterns

3.
- Interesting pattern design, the abstract styles are most appealing
- Consider processes such as foiling to add another aspect of design to the patterns

4.
- I think the way you have approached creating the patterns has become a really interesting project
- Due to thorough you'v got a successful outcome
- The number of designs is enough now, especially if there are other products to make
- Have you considered fabric printing to expand your set?
- Could you incorporate a monochrome series of your designs? Could be more appealing to a male audience
- Love the range of colours in the patterns

Butterfly Project - Evaluation

Overall I'm really pleased with my feedback at this stage, my peers like my pattern generating concept, the use of abstract colour and style of designs. I will definitely take into account the aspect of a monochrome series of print for a male audience and perhaps proposing a textile range as this will give me the freedom to experiment with printing on fabric.

Pink Ink

Questions

- Is the concept strong enough?
- Does the research benefit the brief?
- Does the proposal idea suit the chosen products to be made?

Feedback

1.
- Great research, very well presented and you show a broad range of themes
- I like the fact it has its own identity, perhaps mocking up a website to promote products?

2.
- I like the idea, however I'm slightly confused on the context? Is is a brand like paper chase?
- I really like the techniques you have been looking into, thorough research will really help you in your brief

3.
- Visually appealing research, well thought through to give you inspiration
- Will 'Pink Ink' have a logo?
- Unsure what you mean produce a brand based on pink ink?

Pink Ink - Evaluation

Great feedback however I don't feel I wrote my brief clear enough for my peers to understand the idea of making a brand from the concept of 'pink ink', by this I was meaning to state I would like to use the colour pink to generate a collection of patterns through a variety of processes such as japanese marbling. Given that Pink Ink will essentially have its own identity I think it's appropriate for me to create a logo/ brand for Pink Ink.
