Boho Chic Decor || Brief

Context:

Produce a range of designs fitting to be made into jewellery. Develop a collection which is inspired by personal taste and current trends in the accessories field.


- Produce hand crafted pieces for decoration which are based on bohemian styles and hippie influences.

Brief or Tasks:




- Items such as dream catchers, hand-paintings and drawings in up cycled photo frames, crocheted cushion covers, leather doilies etc.
- All products would be elegant pieces, taking into account material choices and colour options (whites, subtle hues, pastel and earthy tones)
- A collection of objects which would be suitable for home decor, or to be given as gifts. 
- Develop a brand for the collection of products, produce packaging for all objects to be wrapped and distributed along with a form advertising all Boho Chic Decor such as an Etsy. 


Preparation/Research suggestions:

Research 


- Research bohemianism, people and boho lifestyle.
- Boho/ Chic interior.
- Research hand crafted art, embellishment on materials, objects and materials to use for decorating.
- Boho things: Dream catchers, plants, old crockery, vases, mason jars, doilies, lanterns, cushion covers, crocheting, flowers, feathers, stone painting, candles, hand painting and drawings, shells, picture frames, stones, buntings and clothing.
- Consider the association of 'boho chic' known in female fashion, fans of the style include Kate Moss, Sienna Miller and the Olsen twins.
- Flower power. 
- Popularity in 1960's. 
- Pre - Raphaelites movement.
- Consider an audience/ how to make an appeal for these items. 


Evidence – for this project students should submit:

- Ongoing documentation on blog
- Research (primary and secondary)
- Design sheets
- Summative and formative feedback from peers 
- Initial and final designs 
- Develop Design and inspiration boards to help produce products. 
- Hand crafted products.
- Packaging and Promotion.
- Branding and identity for the concept. 
- An esty
